ANTIQUE CAST IRON PLAQUE OF WILD BOAR / CINGHIALLE FRENCH OR ITALIAN – memorabilialane2011 Store Here we have an antique cast iron plaque featuring a wild boar plus a hunter & his dog. This piece was 1 of a pair recently acquired from auction, the other featuring a cockerel, so I feel these pieces were from Southern France, close to the Italian border, where the hunting of wild boar is prevalent even to this day, both in France & Italy. The piece measures approximately 15 cms by 14 cms & weighs in at a sturdy 659 grammes. There is a handy hook with a hole to the top, enabling this to be nailed to a wall, for example. As can be seen from the accompanying pictures, there are some signs of rust & this has received definite age, probably dating to the 19th century. An individual & one off display piece! I have included a few different photographs so you can obtain a clear idea of how lighting effects the look. Please note there is no makers mark. Feel free to ask any questions.
